Alcohol acts as a suppressant in the brain, the body's control center. It can make the person who drinks feel euphoric for a while but this is usually followed by a low mood. Long and excessive alcohol consumption can destroy brain cells and cause memory loss and mental problems.

Alcohol steals water from the brain. Thus, as the body begins to metabolize alcohol, the person may feel dizzy and have a headache if he or she has consumed a large amount of alcohol.

Sleep: Alcohol prevents REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. It is the most important phase of sleep, so drinking alcohol can affect one's chances of resting properly.

Ears: After drinking alcohol, the person may find it more difficult to hear the sounds or perceive their source. That means the person can't react properly to what's going on around them. This is one of the reasons that accidents occur with pedestrians who have consumed alcohol.
