When you're having a party, it's only natural that you want your guests to have a good time. But you also want to be a responsible host. Here are some simple tips to enjoy your party without putting anyone at risk:
- Keep an eye on the quantities of drinks - don't be too generous and try to use the measuring cups that apply in the shops as well as smaller glasses.
- Make sure that plenty of water and non-alcoholic beverages are available.
- Provide food – helps to absorb alcohol.
- Be careful when preparing homemade cocktails – use lots of ice and juices to keep them from getting too strong.
- If you find that the guests have had enough, suggest to them (very politely) to have a soft drink. If you deem it appropriate, tell some "innocent" lie, such as that the drink they have been consuming has finished!
- Take special care of the younger people and make sure they're okay.
- Make sure that everyone can return home safely with the “group driver,” taxi, or public transportation.
- Have radio cab phones handy and if possible, book in advance.
- As a host, make sure you set a good example and drink moderately!
